Terms of service
Effective July 15, 2026
These Terms govern your use of scotusai.com and Scotus AI audio, video, RSS, and related materials. By using the service, you agree to these Terms.
Independent, unofficial service
Scotus AI is an independent educational and accessibility project. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by the Supreme Court of the United States, any Justice, or any U.S. government agency.
Not legal advice
The service provides readings of legal materials for general informational purposes only. It does not provide legal advice, create an attorney-client relationship, or substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer who understands your facts and jurisdiction.
Accuracy and source text
Audio may be produced with synthesized or AI-assisted voices and may contain pronunciation, transcription, timing, labeling, or other errors. Slip opinions can also be corrected after release. The official written opinion published by the Court is the controlling source. You are responsible for verifying any material before relying on it.
Permitted use
You may use the service for personal, educational, journalistic, and research purposes. You may not interfere with the site, attempt to gain unauthorized access, distribute malware, scrape the service in a way that degrades availability, misrepresent Scotus AI content as official Court material, or use the service unlawfully.
Public-domain and third-party materials
Judicial opinions and other U.S. government works may be in the public domain, but third-party materials, platform features, branding, episode artwork, site design, and original production elements may be protected by intellectual-property laws. No rights are granted beyond what these Terms expressly allow.
Third-party services
Podcast players, video platforms, external source links, and hosting providers are operated by third parties. Their services may be unavailable or change without notice, and their own terms govern your use of them.
Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We do not guarantee that every opinion will be published, that a reading will be available by a particular date, or that the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or availability.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scotus AI and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from reliance on the service, inability to access it, or errors in any reading or metadata.
Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms as the service evolves. Continued use after an updated version is posted means you accept the revised Terms.
